Once I bought a bag of dried peas instead of lentils. I love lentil soup, and I was very happy that I finally found green lentils. You can imagine my disappointment when I realized the mistake.

After looking for dry split pea recipes, I decided to make the soup with peas instead of lentils. The soup tasted good and I kept the recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup dry split peas
- 1 medium size onions
- 1 tbsp rice
- 1 medium size potato (diced)
- 1 medium size carrot (sliced)
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 tbsp salt
- 2-3 cups of water (if necessary can add more)
- Vinegar and chilli sauce (optional, for serving)
- Wash split peas with cold water, and soak them in water for couple of hours.
- Wash the rice with cold water.
- Put all of the ingredients in a soup pan.
- Over the medium heat bring the water to boil.
- Keep adding water until the potato and carrot slices become tender.
- Turn the heat off, and let it cool for half an hour.
- Using a food processor, or a simple mixer crush all the ingredients.
- If necessary add a little more hot water to dilute the soup.
- Serve with vinegar and a little chili sauce.
